The 2000 Honda NT650V Deauville is a practical mid-size touring motorcycle focused on comfort, reliability and everyday usability rather than outright performance.
Its powered by a liquid cooled 647cc V-twin engine with single overhead cam and three valves per cylinder, producing about 56hp and 55 Nm of torque and paired with a five-speed gearbox and shaft drive for low maintenance.
The Deauvilles half fairing, integrated windscreen and built-in panniers make it well suited to commuting and longer rides, while its upright ergonomics promote comfort for two-up touring. The bike’s 19.7 litre fuel tank, telescopic front forks and rear monoshock suspension give it a stable, predictable ride for motorways and backroads alike.
The bike weighed around 244kg (538lbs).
Owners appreciate the Deauville’s smooth, durable V-twin engine and shaft drive durability, with many examples providing years of near trouble-free use and strong fuel economy.
However, there are known weaknesses and failure points to watch for on used models:
- • Fuel pumps on early units can fail with age, leaving you without access to reserve tank fuel.
- • Electrical problems, particularly regulator/rectifier and battery issues, are common on older bikes.
- • Brembo brakes on pre 2002 models can become sticky if not regularly serviced.
- • Pannier lids/latches wear or stick over time.
- • Carburetors may need cleaning or synchronization after periods of inactivity
- • The headlight is relatively dim and the braking performance feels weak compared to modern motorcycles
Checking for corrosion, seal condition and overall maintenance history is especially important on twenty plus year old examples.
