Not sure where the oil filter and drain plug are located on the Kawasaki ZRX1200? Hopefully this post will show exactly where the oil drain and filter are located.
Note – The filter and drain bolt locations should be the same for all ZRX1200 models (2001 to 2007).

Approximate location of the oil filter and drain bolt.
Both the drain plug and filter are located underneath the engine and are accessed from the left hand side of the bike (opposite side to the exhaust as the exhaust pipework tends to get in the way if your working from the right side).

Closer pic of the oil filter and oil drain bolt.
Note – The oil drain bolt is a 17mm bolt and should be tightened to 20nm when putting it back.
The oil filter cover is held in place by a 17mm bolt and should be tightened to 20nm.

Both the oil filter and the drain plug are held in place by 17mm bolts.
Note – The oil level can be checked using the oil level window located at the bottom of the clutch cover casing on the right side of the bike.

The oil filter for the 2001 to 2007 ZRX1200 (all models) is a Hiflo HF401 filter .
The Hiflo HF401 paper oil filter is the same as the filters below:
- Filtrex OIF001
- Champion X303, X315
- Vesrah SF-1001, SF-4004
- K and N KN-401
- Kawasaki 16099-003

10w40 motorcycle oil is recommended for the ZRX 1200.
You will need 3 litres of engine oil for an oil and filter change (or 2.7 litres if just changing the oil and 3.5 litres after a complete engine strip/rebuild)
