Rock Oil motorcycle oil sponsored Tom Sagar stylishly continued his run of victories with a double first over the weekend of April 21 and 22nd. The opening round of the GBXC Sprint Cross saw Tom defend his 2011 title emphatically, a minute and a half clear of his close friend and rival Mark Roberts after six sprint tests. Preston Coombe is always a popular GBXC venue, large and flowing with a variety of terrain which includes several woodland sections, fast and open fields, jumps, gulleys and rocks, a real test for an all-round rider. Tom made his intentions clear from the very first of six Sprint tests. He posted the fastest time in the first test and then went on to improve his lap time by four seconds to eventually post the fastest test time of the day which saw him finish with an overall time of 39.35.1, the only rider to break the 40-minute mark.

It all came together beautifully for Ian Lowry and the Rock Oil Sponsored Padgett’s team in race one at Thruxton this weekend. A combination of first-class preparation, inspired tyre choice, expert bike set-up and a talented and determined rider resulted in the team achieving its first win in only its second race since returning to the blue ribbon class of UK motorcycle racing. After a weekend of which the team can be rightly proud of its efforts, not only did all team riders come away with more points in their respective series after each race than they had at the start, but Lowry also goes to the next round as the BSB Championship leader with team-mate Luca Scassa only 8 places behind.

New this week - The BikeTek alternator and motorbike or scooter battery testing probe is a handy, pocket sized tool for quickly testing the charge state of motorcycle batteries and motorbike charging systems. The testing probe uses 2 small probes that can be connected to the battery + and - terminals to test the battery or charge system. The -/negative probe is on a wire that secures to the unit. The readout uses a coloured light strip for the battery testing and a simple, 2 light system (good or bad charge) for testing the charging system.

Rock Oil Sponsored Par Honda Maxxis Round 2 Results - After the deep sand of the Fat Cat Motorparc in Doncaster, the Maxxis 2012 British Moto cross championship moved south to the beautiful woodland setting of Canada Heights in Kent for the second round. The PAR team were there in full force at the top of the paddock, with hopes to build on the team’s results from Round 1 and get some valuable points. With a punishingly fast and rutted circuit developing through the day, the team had some good results, from Whatley’s welcome return to form in the MX1 class to Ben Watsons promising start in the MXY2 races.

A capacity crowd at Western Springs Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand witnessed some great on track action as the top 15 riders in the world battled it out on the big 403 metre track over 23 races in the opening round of the 2012 World Speedway Championship.
